Zante Airport

Situated in the south of the island, Zante Airport is 1 km from the popular resort of Laganas and 6 km from the islands capital town. Zante airport is a very busy airport - the fifth busiest in the whole of Greece.

A new arrivals area was opened In 2005. This has improved the airport and the time to process of passengers and their luggage is now much quicker. Also, in 2007 a new departures area was built. Thankfully, night flights are banned on Zante, to prevent disturbing the endangered Caretta Caretta turtles which nest their eggs on the beaches of Zante.

Planes to Zante airport land in waves which sometimes results in some congestion. The arrivals and departures areas are both fully air-conditioned. The departures area has a snack bar and duty free shop.

If you have arranged a package holiday transfer to your hotel, then usually the coaches will pick you up at the front of the airport. Additionally, there is a taxi rank. Taxis can be booked in advance from the airport. See the website www.zantetaxi.gr for more information.
